Are euphemisms useful in language, or do they only cloud the true meaning?

Euphemisms are useful in that they keep languange interesting. We listen - and learn - more when we hear something interesting. Yes, eupehmisms can be over used (especially by lawyers and lawmakers), but in general they have a role in our speech.
