Does anybody understand the true meaning of Thanksgiving?

Beer and football.

Hahaha. It's a day of giving thanks, thanks for all that we each have in life. That's it, nothing else. If you're healthy, you have a family, you have a job, give thanks. If you can feed yourself and your family, be thankful. If somebody was ever kind to you, be thankful. Everybody has something. Thanksgiving Day is a day for you to recognize that. You could be dead, or have a horrific disease. Your children could be suffering. Be thankful dammit!!!

That being said, take the Lions and the points.Does anybody understand the true meaning of Thanksgiving?
My Thanksgiving Day is full of so many of life's blessings -- and I'm not speaking those of monetary value -- that I'm grateful just to be there with my husband, mom and her husband and sister. I say all my thank you's to my Higher Power before I embark on my journey to fill my 3 day dietary quota and when we're all there, you can bet I soak up every minute of being there in one piece and you're damn right--be thankful people! And I'll be glad to watch whatever football game is on because I have terrible reception on my home TV. :)Does anybody understand the true meaning of Thanksgiving?
A great day! We will 64,000,000 slaughtered turkeys! Yaaaah!!!!
Thanksgiving is when the food comes out! And you are happy! And thankful! WOOT!
It is the day when our founding father all had there first feast and they ate turkey that is why we eat it we give thanks because they traveled and they said they were thankful for a safe trip so we say what we ar thankful for that day
today was my last day of radiation therapy,eh hay//im a breast cancer survivor
yeah.....a day to look at the good in your life and give thanks to the one above and to share your goodness by sharing a big turkey dinner with your loved ones!
What ever you write is correct....in my religion, we don't celebrate Thanksgiving....but to be honest I love the idea of celebrating thanks giving for all the reasons you mentioned...and I do celebrate in my house with all these reasons ....to be thankful...for what I have. thanks for sharing your idea with us. GOD BLESS YOU
Yes, it was the day the White man started Exterminating the Indians.
To show our thanks to the Indians? Even though we killed and raped their woman.. took their land.. but that's the past right?
we are very thankful that we still survive from birth to date.
Yeah. I do. It's a day to be thankful that I am stacked as well as I am.
I agree totally.... except the beer and football part. ; )

But yes. I am very grateful for what God has given me. And I don't just thank Him on Thanksgiving... I think Him everyday I am alive.

EDIT:

I also agree with the last part you added.

I think it's the same for slavery... MOVE ON and stop trying to get compensation for it. The past is the past.
